A bluffing dice game once played by sailors and pirates, Liar's Dice takes little strategy and a lot of luck! Players are given 5 dice to roll and hide under a cup. Players go in a circle taking turns guessing the combined total of 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's or 6's under all of the cups until any player decides to challenge the previous player's guess. If the player's guess was wrong, they lose a die. If the previous player's guess was correct, the person who called the challenge loses a die. Play continues until only one person is left with dice and is crowned the winner!
Pick a player to be Player 1. Play moves to the left so Player 2 will sit to the left of Player 1 (and so on).
BACKGROUND: #1 is Wild.
In each round:
All players roll all of their dice at once and quickly cover them with their cup so that nobody can see what has been rolled.
Each player looks at their own dice in secret to observe what they have rolled.
Player 1 takes a wild guess as to how many of a certain number of dice have been rolled by all of the players. (For Example: Player 1 can bet that at least 6 of the total dice under all the cups are 3's.) Since 1's are wild, you'd want to guess how many 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's or 6's have been rolled in total by all players.
Player 2 can then choose to increase Player 1's bet or challenge Player 1. To increase Player 1's bet, Player 2 would suggest a higher quantity of any face value of dice under all cups . (For Example: Player 2 can bet that 7 of the total dice under all of the cups have a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 face up). To challenge Player 1's bet, Player 2 would say the word "challenge" and all players would remove their cups to reveal their dice. TO TOTAL THE DICE: Since 1's are wild, If Player 1's guess was "Six 3's", you would add the total number of dice with 1's face up plus the total number of dice with 3's face up. If the combined total of 1's and 3's is 6 or higher, Player 1 is safe and the player who called the challenge must remove a die from their hand. If the combined total is 5 or lower, Player 1 was wrong and must remove a die from their hand.
Once someone loses a die, the round is over.
Each new round begins by all players re-rolling and covering their dice again. The player that lost their die in the previous round starts the betting in the next round.
How to Win Liar's Dice:
Once a player loses all 5 of their dice, they are out of the game. The winner of the game is the last person with dice in their possession!
